L’île Maurice et La Réunion: la proximité des deux soeurs.
“La photographie, une authentique réalité qui nous transporte sans bouger, qui nous fait vivre sans penser” -Noé Wodecki. Une citation qui prend tout son sens avec cette magnifique photo, prise simplement de son téléphone par le photographe mauricien Kounal Gopaul, le 29 mai en fin de journée.
Deux jours après, elle fut publiée par Réunion La Première, laissant apercevoir Le Piton de la Fournaise, La Roche Ecrite, Cimendef ou encore le Piton des Neiges. Ainsi, les plus hauts sommets de notre île, à la faveur d’un ciel dégagé, étaient clairement visibles depuis l’île Maurice sur la colline de Chapman à Chebel. Il était là, au moment et lieu propices pour capturer la vue imprenable et extraordinaire de notre île.
Heureusement, Kounal Gopaul ne s’arrêtera pas là, il a déclaré à la presse mauricienne qu’il comptait se rendre régulièrement sur les lieux pour de nouvelles photos de ce type, tout en espérant, pourquoi pas un jour, immortaliser une éruption du Piton de La Fournaise.
Qui l’aurait cru ! À l’horizon se pointerait une vue si magique, à savoir que La Réunion est située à 231 kilomètres de l’île sœur.
Une petite pensée pour nos frères et sœurs réunionnais bloqués à Maurice. Loin des yeux certes, mais non loin du cœur, cette photo nous rappelle que même si la distance paraît énorme, on reste connecté malgré tout. Les restrictions par rapport aux vols seront bientôt levées, on se reverra dans pas longtemps. Finalement on peut se dire, une distance à portée…des yeux.

Two days later, it was published by Réunion La Première, revealing Le Piton de la Fournaise, La Roche Ecrite, Cimendef or even the Piton des Neiges. Thus, the highest peaks of our island, thanks to a clear sky, were clearly visible from Mauritius on Chapman hill in Chebel. He was there, at the right time and place to capture the breathtaking and extraordinary view of our island.
Fortunately, Kounal Gopaul will not stop there, he told the Mauritian press that he planned to visit the scene regularly for new photos of this type, while hoping, why not one day, to immortalize an eruption of the Piton de La Fournaise.
Who would have believed it ! On the horizon would emerge such a magical sight, namely that Reunion Island is located 231 kilometers from the sister island.
A little thought for our Reunionese brothers and sisters stranded in Mauritius. Far from the eyes , but not far from the heart, this photo reminds us that even if the distance seems enormous, we remain connected despite everything. The flight restrictions will soon be lifted, we will see each other again in a short time. Finally we can tell ourselves, a distance within reach … of the eyes.
